Convolutional Neural Network for Classifying Phage Lifecycles

As deaths from antibiotic resistant infections surges, phage therapy has been hailed as a nearly guaranteed solution for killing bacterial infections, as bacteriophages are the natural antagonists of bacteria. The catch? The discovery of the necessary phages is prohibitively costly and time-consuming, with patients dying before a treatment can be identified. To address this, our team has developed a machine learning algorithm that aims to expedite the discovery phase of phage therapy by automating phage lifecycle classification with 85% accuracy.
